Few Warnings And Operations Techniques To Know Before Using An Aluminum Gantry Crane

It is true that an Aluminum Gantry Crane is a safe and cost-effective alternative to steel gantry cranes, but to use it safely and to make the best use of it, there are a few things that you should know. Here is a list of warnings that you or your crane operator should follow. First, prior to every use, you should inspect the whole system. Add to that, you should make it a point that you service your crane annually by a pro. This should be done in accordance to the OSHA regulations. If you fail to do so or ignore such inspections, it may lead to serious accidents, severe injuries and even death.

The load capacity and type

You must know that every Aluminum Gantry Crane is designed for a specific purpose - to lift loads. However, that does not mean you can lift anything and everything using your crane. There are specifications of each of these cranes to lift specific loads up to a specific capacity. You should never cross that load bearing capacity while using your crane. It would otherwise lead to accidents, injuries and even death. Always carry the load that you are meant to carry on the crane. Under no circumstances, these cranes should be used to lift, support or transport humans!

A few don'ts

There are a few dos and don'ts to know and follow while using an Aluminum Gantry Crane. First, you should make sure that you check for any missing bolts or broken parts in the crane before you use it. also make sure that the loads that you want to carry conforms to the weight that is and should be clearly labeled on both the sides of the I-beam. As for the don'ts list, it includes not overloading the crane to cross the lifting capacity, not disassembling the crane or adjusting the height with the load on it, not loading it when it is in an inclined position, and not pushing or pulling the gantry with a forklift or any other vehicle.

Loading and operating

When you load the Aluminum Gantry Crane make sure that the load on the I beam is not allowed to swing. You should also not roll the load against the supporting structures of the crane. Also make sure that the load is firmly fixed on the I beam so that it does not swivel or twirls which may result in its toppling and tipping over. Make sure that you do not anchor legs of the crane to the floor and while moving do not push the gantry but push the load. Never, ever, lift the gantry crane when it is fully assembled.

The last words

Keep the load as close as possible to the floor while moving the gantry crane. Always position the load at the center of the I beam and is directly under the beam before it is lifted. Remove anything that may impede lifting and do not pull the load sideways on the crane. While adjusting the height, secure the trolley and hoist at the center of the I-beam. Visit Here: EC & MW, Inc.
